Clarius Ultrasound: Precision Imaging for Advanced Aesthetic Care

At Harley Street Injectables, we use Clarius ultrasound technology to support accurate assessment, treatment planning and procedural safety. Clarius is a high-resolution, handheld ultrasound system that provides real-time visualisation of structures beneath the skin. This allows our practitioners to better understand each patient’s anatomy and make more informed clinical decisions when planning and performing suitable aesthetic treatments.

What Is Clarius Ultrasound?

Clarius ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging tool that allows our nurses to view structures beneath the skin, including previously placed dermal filler.

It may be used as an additional assessment tool when dissolving filler, helping the nurse locate the product and assess its position before or during treatment.

The Science Behind Clarius Ultrasound:

Clarius ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of structures beneath the skin, including soft tissue, blood vessels and anatomical planes. These sound waves travel through the tissue and reflect back at different speeds depending on the structure they encounter. The system then converts this information into detailed live imaging.

By visualising anatomy below the surface, Clarius ultrasound allows practitioners to identify key structures before and during aesthetic treatments. This supports precise treatment planning, reduces reliance on estimation, and enables a more anatomy-led approach. The result is greater accuracy, improved safety, and decisions based on what is actually present beneath the skin rather than assumptions.

How Does Clarius Ultrasound Work?

Clarius uses high-frequency sound waves to produce detailed, real-time images of the tissues beneath the skin. During a scan, a handheld device is gently moved across the treatment area, allowing the practitioner to assess structures such as the skin, fat, muscle, fascia and blood vessels.

This additional visual information can support more accurate treatment planning and, where appropriate, help guide injectable procedures according to your individual anatomy.

Benefits of Clarius Ultrasound

Real-Time Visualisation

Provides a live view of existing filler and the surrounding tissue beneath the skin.

Locating Existing Filler

May help identify the position and depth of filler before dissolving treatment.

Additional Clinical Information

Supports the nurse’s assessment and treatment planning when filler dissolving is required.

Non-Invasive Imaging

The scan does not involve needles, radiation or downtime.

What to Expect During Your Clarius Ultrasound Assessment

Ultrasound gel is applied to the treatment area, and the handheld scanner is moved gently across the skin.

The live images may help your nurse locate existing filler and gather additional information before or during the dissolving procedure.

AFTERCARE

Clarius ultrasound is non-invasive and does not usually require any downtime. The gel will be removed after the scan, and you can normally return to your usual activities immediately.

When ultrasound is used alongside an injectable procedure, your practitioner will provide aftercare instructions specific to that treatment.
