Cellulite Treatment

Cellulite is a very common, harmless skin condition that causes lumpy, dimpled flesh on the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen. The condition is most prevalent in women. Treatment isn’t necessary. But if you’re concerned about the appearance of your skin we have several treatment options at our clinic.

Symptoms

Cellulite looks like dimpled or bumpy skin. It’s sometimes described as having a cottage cheese or orange peel texture. You can see mild cellulite only if you pinch your skin in an area where you have cellulite, such as your thighs. Cellulite that is more severe makes the skin appear rumpled and bumpy with areas of peaks and valleys. Cellulite is most common around the thighs and buttocks, but it can also be found on the breasts, lower abdomen and upper Little is known about what causes cellulite. It involves fibrous connective cords that tether the skin to the underlying muscle, with the fat lying between. As fat cells accumulate, they push up against the skin, while the long, tough cords pull down. This creates an uneven surface or dimpling.

In addition, hormonal factors play a large role in the development of cellulite, and genetics determine skin structure, skin texture and body type. Other factors, such as weight and muscle tone affect whether you have cellulite, though even very fit people can have it.

Risk factors

Cellulite is much more common in women than in men. In fact, most women develop some cellulite after puberty. This is because women’s fat is typically distributed in the thighs, hips and buttocks — common areas for cellulite. Cellulite is also more common with aging, when the skin loses elasticity.

Weight gain can make cellulite more noticeable, but some lean people have cellulite, as well. It tends to run in families, so genetics might play the biggest role in whether you develop cellulite. An inactive lifestyle also can increase your chances of having cellulite, as can pregnancy.

Causes

As a loss of elasticity can weaken the skin and bring cellulite to the surface, lifestyle can play a role in how visible cellulite becomes. The amount of elasticity someone has in their skin is somewhat due to natural ageing (as elastin depletes with age). Still, lifestyle factors and external forces also contribute to this breakdown. Therefore, while poor diet and a lack of exercise don’t cause cellulite, it can make it more prominent. Genetics also, unfortunately, predetermine the likelihood of developing cellulite. DNA makeup can play a part in how fat deposits on the body, making us more likely to develop a body shape that is similar to our parents.

Increasing levels of oestrogen within the body can also prompt the growth of fat. One of the reasons why women are so prone to cellulite is due to the variations in oestrogen levels that change when taking the contraceptive pill, or during the menstrual cycle or when pregnant. As these fat compartments enlarge, it puts more stress on the surface of the skin, allowing cellulite to persist.

TREATMENT OPTIONS
With elasticity depletion and sluggish circulation, cellulite can become more apparent. To treat cellulite effectively, you should focus on improving circulation and boosting your elasticity levels through conscious awareness of lifestyle choices (smoking, drinking and poor diet all contribute to breaking connective tissue fibres). Certain skin care products can also improve the quality of the skin, and so we recommend a combination approach of treatment, ongoing product use and manual circulation boosting

Ultraformer

The ULTRAFORMER III treatment provides both non-invasive and innovative solutions without including side effects or damage to skin. Fat cells and cellulite is formed within the body. The ULTRAFORMER III energy destroys the fat cells that have been targeted.

During an Ultraformer treatment, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound delivers ultrasound waves into varying layers of the skin, without damaging the skin’s surface. The energy heats the targeted areas to temperatures of 65-75°C – the best range to encourage collagen production and facilitate tissue contraction, which restores a more youthful structure and provides more toned and tighter skin.

Ultraformer can be used to treat areas on the body including the hips, thighs, lower legs, arms and abdomen.

Before you have your treatment, we’ll firstly invite you in for a consultation to discuss the areas you would like to treat, and your suitability for treatment, taking your medical history into account. We’ll then clean and sterilise and mark out the treatment area. We then use a series of Ultraformer device attachments, dependent on the skin depth being treated. Ultrasound will be delivered to the skin, causing the muscles to contract. Collagen production is also initiated, resulting in the lifting and tightening of the skin. The whole treatment takes between 30 minutes – 1 hour, and is especially great for those with very busy schedules who need a fast treatment. No downtime is required either, and you can resume your normal activities straight away.

Though discomfort levels vary from client to client, the majority of clients can easily tolerate Ultraformer without the need for anaesthesia. As the ultrasound energy is being delivered, you may feel small amounts of energy being deposited at varying depths, but this sensation only lasts for a few moments during the treatment.

Results are noticeable immediately, and as the collagen regeneration process continues, your skin will continue to improve for up to 6 months post-treatment. For the best results, we recommend 2 treatments 3 – 6 months apart to speed up the healing process.

Morpheus 8

As we begin to age, the body loses the ability to produce collagen and elastin as it once did, resulting in a loss of skin volume and firmness. Morpheus8 is a revolutionary method of skin tightening which rebuilds and reinforces the underlying structure of your skin through microneedling combined with radiofrequency (RF) technology.

The Morpheus8 by InMode applicator features 24 coated pins, which will penetrate the subdermal tissue to trigger a healing response that ‘rebuilds’ your skin. At the same time, the radiofrequency energy will heat up the surface of skin to promote collagen production. Together, the two help to contour, smooth and renew your complexion.

Before your treatment, a numbing cream or local anaesthetic is used to ensure you’ll only experience minimal discomfort throughout.

Downtime is minimal. You should avoid applying makeup or touching your face for up to 24 hours post-treatments. Minor redness may be visible for up to one week.

You will notice immediate as well as longer term improvements in your skin. Optimal results will take around 3 months to appear as your skin continues to improve. Results may last about a year, so annual follow-up sessions may be requires in order to maintain the results.

For the first 3 days after Morpheus8 keep your face as dry and clean as possible. Wash only with lukewarm water, gently pat dry treated skin until it heals. Make sure your hands are clean when touching the treated area.

Protect your skin with broad spectrum physical SPF (at least SPF 30, better SPF 50) at all times from 3 days after the procedure.

From 3 days after Morpheus8 treatment.

We recommend taking Arnica 3x daily orally for 7 days before your Morpheus8 treatment, it will help to reduce the risk of bruising.

A week before treatment, discontinue any irritant topical products like Acids, Retinol, Vita C or scrubs as well as any NSAID medicines (if your medical condition allows) such as Aspirin or Ibuprofen that interfere with normal blood clotting a week before treatment.

We also don’t recommend any abrasive treatments like laser/microneedling or harsh facials as well as prolonged sun exposure, fake tan or sun-beds (any active tan) 4 weeks before.
Numbing cream will be applied in the clinic 45 minutes before the treatment.

Please arrive to your appointment with clean skin, no lotion, make-up or oil.

Emsculpt Neo Treatment

The brand new Emsculpt Neo is the ultimate body contouring treatment combining Radio Frequency with High Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic (HIFEM) energy to provide even better muscle building and fat reduction results, with added benefit of skin tightening too, all with no pain and no downtime.

EMSculpt is one of the first body contouring treatments that uses technology to burn fat and build muscle at the same time. The treatment works by delivering high-intensity focussed electromagnetic energy to the chosen area of the body, stimulating thousands of powerful muscle contractions. At a rate of around 20,000 contractions in one 30 minute session, the effects on the body are greater than can be experienced through an intense workout. Celebrities including Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian swear by it to keep their figures toned and firm.

Why use Emsculpt Neo

Visiting the gym regularly is a past-time that is enjoyed by many people. As well as helping to relieve stress and release energy, this activity is also a great way to keep fit and stay in shape. In some cases, stubborn fat can be difficult to shift, despite the hours put in at the gym. This can be a frustration, as well as causing self-consciousness when the body shows visible pinchable pockets that disrupt the body’s sleek curves.

At Harley Street Injectables our body contouring experts can establish a suitable treatment plan that addresses your individual needs. The results will develop in around 2 – 6 weeks when a firmer, more toned look to the body will become evident. EMSculpt has noticeable effects on the definition and contouring of the area it has been chosen to treat, with many patients also experiencing a loss of up to 19% in body weight.

Emsculpt Neo

The EMSculpt procedure can be suitable for most people who are looking to reduce deposits of pinchable excess fat, as well as to create a firmer and toned look to the body. The results can help to enhance the efforts of regular exercise or visits to the gym, and produce a body form that has better contouring and definition.

EMSculpt has an excellent safety record and many patients have achieved the outcome they expect. The treatment should always be administered by a trained practitioner who fully understands the procedure.

When our patients come for an EMSculpt procedure, they often say how relaxing it is. The treatment delivers an intense workout to the body, without the sweating and getting out of breath.

Your muscles may feel fatigued after the treatment. This temporary effect usually only lasts for a couple of days, and most gym-goers will find this can be a common side effect of intense activity.

There is typically not much to consider by way of aftercare, with EMSculpt. It may be advisable however, not to overdo it if you experience achy or fatigued muscles.
